commit and trust

The word Trust on a cork notice board

The mind is such a powerful tool, and one where we can win or lose battles daily.  I constantly find a war waging in mine.  Our thoughts are where our emotions are bred.

The Holy Spirit brought Proverbs 16:3 to my mind this morning, and as I have pondered this verse all day, I have realized a powerful truth.  “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”  When we commit our works to the Lord, he WILL establish our thoughts.
I don’t know what your thought life looks like, but mine is full of questioning my adequacy in many areas… my children’s education, my roll as a pastor’s wife, the last advice I gave someone, and the list goes on and on…  What a relief can be found in the realization that I don’t have to constantly question, I just have to constantly COMMIT my every way to Him and then allow Him to direct my thoughts.
Another passage that came to my mind today along this same topic is Psalms 37:5 “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
Commit and trust.
A simple truth, but one that can have a precise impact on our daily life.  One of my prayers for 2013 is that God will help me to commit my every work and way to Him, trust Him, and then enjoy the benefits of God directing my thoughts.
